Montauk is by far the most famous fishing destination in New York state. It is the east most point of Long Island and is famous for striped bass, fluke, sea bass, porgies, and more. There are several nearby offshore destinations including Fish Tales, Butterfish Hole, and the Hudson Canyon. The offshore bite primarily focuses on yellowfin tuna and sharks. The fall run can have acres of stripers crushing bait along with bluefish, bonito, and false albacore.
